We remember our first yoga class, so we know what its like to be a 'beginner'. We know it can be confusing and over-whelming - there are so many different styles of yoga you dont know where to start. In fact you can want to give up before you've even done your first downward dog!

However, being new to yoga you in a wonderful situation. The beginners mind is open and filled with possibilities, the experienced yoga students mind is often closed and limited.

So, you need help knowing where to start? The Ashtanga Yoga Workshop offer Beginners Yoga Classes specifically taylored to teaching new students.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga (also known as 'Ashtanga Yoga') is a dynamic form of Hatha Yoga taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India.

Beginners Ashtanga Yoga

'Beginners Ashtanga Yoga' classes are short guided classes designed to build a new students confidence and help them enjoy and benefit from the practice of yoga. These classes are specifically designed for beginners, including those with no yoga experience at all.

Each class will begin with some seated breathing and continue through sun salutations, standing poses and some seated restorative poses.

Modifications are offered for each pose and are accompanied by concise verbal instructions and a dose of humour!

'Moving into Mysore', is a 6 week beginners course ideal for complete beginners, rusty practitioners or anyone interested in experiencing the Mysore-style Ashtanga Yoga environment.This short course is run regularly throughout the year, but limited to 6 people per course.

Mysore Ashtanga Yoga

Traditionally the place for a beginner to learn the Ashtanga Yoga method is in a 'Mysore' class. In a Mysore Ashtanga Yoga class each student will receive individual instruction appropriate to level of student. This enables students to learn the Ashtanga Yoga practice at their own pace.

We know beginners can feel intimidated attending a Mysore Ashtanga class. However, if you are committed to developing a sustainable yoga practice (rather than simply attending a weekly class), attending a regular Mysore class will accelerate your progress and transform your yoga experience.
